How to play with GFWL windows 7/8/10 COOP PVP
By Pointman
04/28/2019 MULTIPLAYER WORKS COOP/PVP- THIS GAME WORKS!!!!!! Do not let the down votes misguide you. This game fully works in multiplayer pvp and coop, player and ranked matches. Every down vote you see is just someone who can't follow directions. I got it working in 10 minutes. and have been playing since yesterday ONLINE with FRIENDS on GWFL. It works.

MAKE SURE YOU UNINSTALL ANY GWFL BEFOREHAND

Basic guide(SEE BELOW FOR MORE INDEPTH)
1. Download and run the game, choose a direct x mode. It will crash to desktop.
2. Go to google and download GFWL, should be the first link. Direct download.
3. Restart computer
4. Launch game-click start in menu(GWFL will appear-If not use the *Home* button)
5.Sign in using existing and use your xbox account BUT BEFORE you press sign in you must uncheck the boxes to auto remember your passwords and login info and then put in your info.
6. When you sign in to GFWL, you literally have to wait for about five minutes until the sign in will go through. (This is what threw me off originally)
7. Once you sign in, you will get an update for GFWL. That update will fix the login time, so in the future you don't have to wait.
8. Close game update may occur on desktop when you close.
9. Launch game and login
10. Do the updates and then play the game!

GUIDE 2-MORE IN DEPTH
Steam user Staggered Almond made a indepth guide---Very helpful all writing below is credited to them.

Launch the game. It'll try to install GFWL and it'll lead you to getting an updated version through your browser. If it doesn't do this just do a search for GFWL download. On Google the first result is a direct download. Install it, fully restart your PC (restarting your PC is very important, don't skip it) and then start the game.

When you start the game you should be greeted with GFWL. Proceed using an existing account. Uncheck any and all "remember X information" boxes, there should be 3 of them. Then type in your email. Following that your password. Then proceed to check each box from top to bottom one at a time. If your password stays the same length then sign in. If it changes in length after checking one of the boxes uncheck them all, retype your password and try again. When you sign in it may take some time for it to load. I think it's just downloading your profile or it's just a buggy POS. Either way wait that out. It took mine around 10 minutes to finally go through. Any successful manual login will most likely take time so please be patient if it looks like it's just loading forever.

If at this point it prompts an update for GFWL and it says you will have to use offline mode if you select No, select Yes. The game should minimize/close and something will appear to be updating. Once that's done restart your PC, launch the game and follow the same sign in steps again. If it asks to update again (which it did for me) do it and a different looking updater window may appear. Update and restart your PC again. After restarting, the CD key was probably wiped from your clipboard so copy it again. If it worked correctly the next sign in should then proceed to a CD key field. Paste that in and next it'll probably download your profile. My Xbox profile is thicc so It took a few minutes. Once that is done you should simply be logged in. Escape or Home will minimize the GFWL overlay and you should be able to play the game like normal.

By saving your login info and selecting automatic login you should now automatically and instantly sign in to GFWL whenever you start the game again. You will not have to interface with the GFWL overlay anymore if your end result is anything like mine.

I hope this helps anyone having issues getting this whole thing setup.

Works, just did this and played an hour (granted no players i could see yet). If you struggle with the login bit, just use your main xbox/microsoft account login info, thats what worked for me.

Disabling hyper threading got me beyond the black screen and small blue spinning circle (and into the game menu screen)

You shouldn't have to jump thru hoops to get a game to run, especially one being marketed on Steam.

IM just guessing you had the most updated version of GFWL before you did this whole process. Even so i would go ahead and follow the first couple steps of uninstalling any GFWL features, then go ahead and restart and download the game and run the game one time. It will crash then you grab the most updated version of GFWL on google and restart once again.

If you had done all this and still got the error then im not pinpoint sure on what could be causing the problem. Could try running the exe. in a compatability mode for xp, service pack , or 7.......or maybe allowing the games GFWL exe. through the fire wall

Okay, so here is the issue, I have the most updated version of GFWL. I also just installed and got RE: Operation Raccoon City up and running and had to do this whole process for that as well...

so, my question is, wtf is wrong with it now. when I got to choose a DirectX version to run. and this is for both of them. DirectX9 opens a full screen black window and is just stuck there, totally broken with the little loading wheel.

DirectX11 does the same thing, but it is windowed instead.

they then sit there like that until I click on them and they gray out with the a crash window that asks if I would like to close the program that is not responding.

and again, I have the updated version of GFWL. I had to do this whole thing for RE: ORC
